The fruit

Fiordifrutta RosehipROSEHIP (Rosa canina L. )
Legend has it that rosehips were used to cure a roman soldier of rabies and records show that its medicinal properties were known in ancient civilizations. In fact the fleshy fruit, which ripens late autumn, is the richest natural source of vitamin C having 50-100 times more than oranges and lemons. Rosehip strengthens our immune system and is an excellent preventive cure against infections, the common cold and flu. It also helps our vascular circulatory systems essential for absorbing vitamins and fighting infections.
During WW2 British children were given rosehip syrup to substitute vitamins found in citrus fruits and other foods which were not available.
