The fruit
RED CURRANT (Ribes rubrum)
Originating from central Europe and North Asia, redcurrant bushes grow in damp, rocky woodland. The small berries vary in colour and have a sharp, refreshing flavour. They are mostly used to stimulate the appetite and aid digestion. Organic acids contained in the berries have a diuretic and laxative effect.
Vitamin C is stable meaning that it does not degrade during processing syrups, liquors or jams.
