The fruit
BLACKBERRY (Rubus ulmifolius Schott- fructicosus L. )
The blackberry plant belongs to the Rosaceae family, commonly known as brambles, which grow wild along footpaths and woodland, so abundantly and difficult to contain they are considered one of the worst invasive species or weeds. The berries are at their most succulent and nutritious when they reach a deep black colour with a distinct scent. Rich in fiber, vitamins A, C and manganese, they make a popular anti-inflammatory syrup or sweets for children suffering sore throats and tonsillitis.
